I searched for this subject and i would like to get some current opinions on the repro AMD fender quality. How do they fit? Are they exact copies or are there areas that are different than the OEM fenders? What are the differences (if there are any)?

Both my front fenders are AMD.  I am happy with the overall quality and fit, but there were some issues with eth passenger side as it was pretty tight against the outer rocker panel.  I had to pry the front fender forward in order to get a good even gap.  Also, the part that attaches to the innder fender near the radiator support brace was a little off and took some pushing and prying to get the holes lined up so I could get the bolts in and tightened.  Other than that, the fenders had no dents or were misshapped.  The most inportant thing is to INSPECT the fenders for dents/damage before you accept the order.  If there are any issues then the entire order will have to be sent back for a new order.

Thanks for the input sanders.

No worries.  I think you are safe with AMD.  I ordered fenders, inner fender, dutchman panel, front floors, trunk floors, and trunk extensions from them.  Granted the tooling may be a little off on some pieces (the passenger fender was the only piece I had an issue with), but at the end of the day I was able to get it all to fit right and I am no bodyman expert.  My restoration is the first time I have ever done body work.  Check out my BC/CC thread and you will see my current state of restoration.  Are you doing all the work yourself, or sending it out to someone else?

I also put two AMD fenders on my 69.  I thought the fit was very good and the quality was excellent.  The front needed a little skim coat as the radius is very tight and was a bit wavy.  Had to pry a little to fit like Sanders mentioned, but even an original pair would need massaging.  I would definately go with them again. BTW... I got mine from 521Restorations and got a nice price with shipping - Jeff is a member on the board and is great to work with.

I have sold quite a bit of them in last few years and haven't had anyone complain.

My fenders have holes in them, and since it is a bolt on part I would like to replace them. I am driving and enjoying the car so a restoration is several years away. i hope to have more free time in the future ( the kids will be older). i am considering doing the body myself.
I saw your bc/cc thread. the car looks great!
