Brake light issue update

As some of you will know, my driver's side brake light stopped working a while ago.  Tail lights and turn signals all work.

Yesterday I was sitting in the charger in the closed garage, cleaning out the console when I stepped on the brake and saw the red glow reflecting in the white garage door.  I looked in the rear view mirror and applied the brakes again, both sides worked again!

Turns out that the issue is in the turn signal switch.  When I move the turn signal lever only slightly it'll cut out either the driver's or passenger side brake light.  I can set it so that both work, until I have to use the signals...

The canceling cam is busted but am I looking for another swith as well or is something else the issue.  My turn signal lever does point down slightly, it's not perfectly horizontal.  I guess I'll order a new cam so I can remove the old and see what's going on but if anyone knows why it's doing this I'd be happy to hear!

yes, the innards of the switch are bad...the little copper strips are probably worn out....just get a whole new switch...don't just replace the cam...

I figured it was the culprit.  I hope these things are not an arm and a leg anymore.

Thanks Bryan

True, I've seen them at places in the $70 range.  Megaparts beats them all though.   :2thumbs:
