"A friend of mine send me some pictures of a car he saw back around 1980 near Appleton Wisconsin. He said it was clearly visible from the highway so he stopped and took a few pictures. He scanned these from slides and said he couldn't get the full image in, sorry about that!"

She sure is rusty for a ten year old car.  :o

And she looks like she already had a repaint. At least the tail has been repainted anyway.

What do you think R6 red with a black tail stripe? I see a black bezel on the car. And sure doesn't look like R4.

It's definitely a repaint.. I'm sure the owner at the time wasn't too concerned about matching the paint and probably didn't even have a concept of "R4" or "R6" back then...  But, I'm sure it was a red car......

Nice job - Odds are probably good it may be that car.

Davtona

I remember calling on an original Hemi Daytona up in that area of Wisconsin sometime in the late 1980's or early 90's. The car was listed in Hemmings for about 75k I believe. I called and talked to the guy. Don't remember many details about the car but seems like he found it in a field. Or spotted it sitting in a field with binoculars. Something like that. Its been a while. Obviously I didn't have 75k to spend on a car or I'd have owned it. So I worked with what I had and offered both my 440 Daytonas for the Hemi car. That's as far as it went and he wasn't going for it. 2 440 cars didn't equal a Hemi car even back then. That's as close as I ever got to a original Hemi Daytona. That's got to be the same car. How many could there be in that area? I always wondered what happened to it and have never heard of it since. The car I called on was not Cal's Daytona as I knew Cal and of his Hemi Daytona at the time. This was another one. Lists I have seen only show one Hemi Daytona going to Wisconsin.  :shruggy:

The Wisconsin Hemi Daytona is the black car that Jerry Service owns.    It was delivered to a small dealer in the Milwaukee area.   It had horrible paint off the new car hauler, and was repainted by the dealer as a new car to get it sold.

Jerry Services 426 daytona was a original V2 as I recall

Yes Dec. 88 was the issue, great article. I remember reading about how the throttle was so stiff it felt like carpet all the time. When Patrick asked jerry "how many springs you got up there?" jerry replied that "oh I forgot to mention that, had a return spring break once"
