is there a way to eliminate hooking up the amp guage? it was sparking today and then blew the fusible link under the hood  :flame:    i have a after market 3 guage cluster under the dash by the console that has a an un used volt guage in it. could i extend the wires and run it to this?

Hi,

To eliminate the amp gauge, you have to join both cables together at rear of gauge.
This can be done by either removing wires, and soldering together (safest way), or by joining the two amp gauge posts together with another cable. Best to do it the first way!
As for your volt gauge, you just require an ignition power and an earth. That will then give you a voltage reading when the key is on!

Hope this helps,

or bolt both wires onto one terminal of the ammeter

:iagree: just put both eyelets on one stud and tighten as normal.

Being that there was sparking from the gauge, suggesting a possible short to ground through said gauge, it would be prudent to join the wiring away from gauge!
Can never be too careful!!

Easy way to test for a short to ground is the continuity setting on your volt meter, check each stud to ground.
