New switch, same problem

68 Charger headlight switch brand new, Summit Racing wiring harness.  Ok, the 5 terminals on the back of the switch I've pretty much figured out.  You've got OFF, Middle (parking lights), then Top (headlights). I realize on the 68's that the parking lights turn off when the headlights come on.  Right as I move the switch to the Top position, the dash and outer lights come on, then when the switch is fully in the Top position, they all go off.  It's as if there is a 4 postion switch when it is only a 3 position switch.  Anyone run into this problem?

Everything comes on (tail, side, dash, license plate). Just as I get ready to push the switch all the way forward in the top position, all the lights go off.  In the stock wiring schematic, there are 2 wires that connect from the dimmer switch to the headlight switch.  All the other wires go to different junctions.  But the Summit wiring harness only requires 5 wires to the headlight switch.  It's not equipped for a dimmer switch.
