I have stripped the engine compartment to paint it but previous owners have drilled a few extra holes in the firewall, inner fenders and radiator support. Can anyone help me with drawings or pictures showing the holes the car originally came with? 68 Charger BB. Thanks.

Thanks Tan Top! This is really good help! Yes I am going to strip the paint of the firewall as well. Just haven't gotten there yet. I'll take a closer look on everything and report what I find. Really wonder what that huge firewall hole with the two screw holes on the sides has been for...

Maybe try to find engine bay pirtures of factory retored cars and compare them to yours so you can see what the holes might be for.

I did that since my car came partially stipped and I also want to weld every unneedded hole shut

NOS is nice, turbo's are neat, but when it comes to Mopars, there's no need to cheat...

I have now stripped the engine compartment. A cracked framerail and multiple other issues really killed my schedule.
I have marked a hole #9 in the attached picture. Is this a factory hole?
Tan Top: There is no sign of the missing hole in the firewall that you are referring to. I believe you are talking about a small hole in the eria under the mounting holes for the voltage regulator. What should that hole be used for? Thanks

No expert myself, but all factory holes will be punched, (nice clean round edges). If they look like out of round holes with rough edges then were drilled by hand. Unless they used self tapping screws or bolts.  :Twocents:.

aww noo sorry to hear you have had grief cracked frame rail ,  :icon_smile_blackeye:  all these things add up ! ,
yes the hole circled in blue , marked number 9 is a factory hole , as far as i know  :yesnod: , what its use for  have know idea , station wagon maybe  :shruggy:

the missing hole on the firewall think i may have got confused with an AC fire wall by mistake , been  looking for an unrestored 68  no A/C  to post the pictures here & have not found any at the moment  ,  but its the engine ground wire to fire wall i got confused about !! & think  in your fire wall picture bolt hole  number 8 is a factory hole ,  but like i say have not found a original untouched picture of a non A/C fire wall yet to  say for sure , sorry for any confusion :slap: when i had found one would / will post it here  :yesnod:

Tan Top: You are right the #8 holi in the firewall for sure is factory. The missing hole should be next to #8 by a couple of inches towards drivers side. I have mostly everything figured out by now and hope to paint the compartment this weekend. Going to a car show in three weeks so I need to go to work! Another thing that added to this time consuming repaint was that I modified the passenger side radiator support to take a 26" radiator. I cut and welded the stock 22" piece to replicate the factory 26" piece. It took some time to make it look factory.
Thanks all for helping! :2thumbs:

I'm trying to post some pics of my 68 engine compartment, but Im not sure a pdf will copy. They aren't too close up, but you may be able blow it up and see a little better. I know for certain it is unmolested as far as holes go. If pics do not copy over I will get some pics and post as as soon as I can.

I guess it will being it says pdf format under the Attach box...
