Performance figures with 440 magnum stroked to 500 ci?

Hey guys, I just have a question while I plan the build of my 68 Charger.
I am thinking of stroking a 440 to 500 ci since 426 hemi's are too rare and expensive to come by these days.
If I was to go through with this, what performance figures would I see in comparison to the originals, or simply, just a before and after verdict.
I'm curious as to what a decent stroker kit would do to the Horsepower rating at the flywheel,
The 0-60 time
and the torque rating.
Thank you!

Heads determine Power, NOT the compressor size underneath...

Strokers make a difference mainly, in "useable" area under the Torque curve.
And for the Street, nothing beats Torque in getting larger B Body's moving or just plain seat of the pants feel.

IMO, the most overlooked thing about Strokers though....is that the "Horsepower", or rating of an Engines ability to do work at RPM, is directly proportional to Airflow through the Heads, and you can NOT exceed the Heads ability to Flow air & Fuel no matter how BIG the compressor underneath.
This is not to say that Strokers won't make power, they most certainly do.....
just that the larger "compressor" underneath whatever Head....just utilizes whatever Head Flow available sooner in the rpm band, which can be a good thing for Street cars, IMO.

This is also NOT to say, that for a given cylinder Head, that EXACTLY the same power can't be made with a std cubic inch 440 these days...IT CAN quite easily !
Just takes the smaller Compressor more rpm to use up the same Head Flow/make the same power.

No matter, and back to your question
BOTH std 440's or 500 strokers with entry level Aluminum Heads/Pump Gas typically pull 500-600hp and trq, just with Higher/Lower power curves depending upon Camshaft/intake, etc., and final parts combinations selected.
Only wimps wear Bowties !

Great description of making power Challenger 340! Makes total sense.

Doesn't a longer stroke also increase the torque?  Pressure in the cylinder pushing on a longer lever arm.

...and the stock heads were undersized for maximum power producton with the stock cubic inch displacement. If stroking, make sure you get heads to support the increased pumping capacity of the new displacement.
