Will 1970 K member fit 73-74 frame?
I have a 74 charger with all correct front suspension from Nascar early years. I am building a vintage dirt car and would like to replace the parts so I can use later. Need any sugestions on what to replace with.

Don't think so since the 73-74 had the K member bushings, it would throw the angle of the upper vs. lower control arms off.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

If I put a new K member in what car can I get disk brakes from?
And I have large torsion bars for nascar. Will they fit normal hex on lower control arm?

72-up B or E body. I have a 72 E body disc brake setup for my 69 as far as the torsion bars I don't have a clue as to what they ran dirt track I would imagine the hex is going to be the same as the stock ones, I would think they just ran bigger diameter bars.
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

I will look for 72 ebody parts. As for torsion bars they are larger. The car may have been an ARCA car back in the day not sure. Thanks for the advice. If you have anymore tips pass them on.

Are you sure it's really a 1974 front suspension under there?  

Nobody ran isolated front subframes on racecars as far as I know.  The logical way to avoid dealing with that issue would be to just use earlier chassis gear under the '74 skin.

I agree with Mike, are you sure its 74 suspension under there?

Typically race cars were built on a solid platform with several years of development (ie 62-72 B body) then rebodied from year to year until they were used up. Chances are very good that your 74 body is nothing more than a body.

Also, 72 and up B bodies are completely different from 72 and up E bodies. 66-72 B body suspensions are the same, 70-74 E bodies are the same and based off the 66-72 B body design, and 73-79 B bodies are unique to themselves.

Given your questions and goal, I'd HIGHLY suggest you find a version of the Mopar Performance Oval Track Manual and read it thouroghly in regards to chassis and suspension set up. Fortunatly this manual has a lot fo vintage Nascar specs on things so if you do have genuine race parts, you will be able to identfy them. Out of curiosity, what is the diameter and length on the torsion bars?  That may help narrow down what year suspension you may have. Pictures would be beneficial too.

I guess I misunderstood but I agree with Mike and HPP that chassis very well could have been built in 70 and they did in fact run the chassis for several seasons and just put that years body on it, If your going vintage original Nascar I thought they all had monstrous drum brakes on the front and back??? But if your doing it up as a "vintage style" car then I would run discs but at that I don't know they may have changed the whole control arm setup and spindle and it most likely has totally different control arm mounting points than the actual "stock" B body.  :shruggy:

True, it could have truck or C body sized components on it.
