Oh yeah keep giving away Govmnt check's to Folk's that barely or never worked a job in their life and continue to have Kid's with all different Women.

We continue in this fashion, our Country will be a broke third World Nation!!!! :flame:

Want to hear a very good analysis of economic problems that have been going on since the 1970's & not what people think is just a recent problem? I watched this lecture on FSTV over the winter given by Professor Richard Wolff called "Capitalism Hits the Fan"

You've been warned, it's not a short video.

I knew someone would not be able to resist pulling the political card, but I would have put my money on page 2.

The debt figure looks so bad recently because the US dollar has been inflated so much in recent years, much more than the official CPI's figures would suggest.  A borrowed Obama dollar is a hell of a lot less money than a borrowed Reagan dollar was.

Same issue with gas prices these days.  It's a combination of the oil going up and also the dollar going down.

This is actually what the United Nations (most useless organization in the world) has wanted for years and now they have someone that will help make it happen. It's way easier to kill our dollar and bring everybody down than it is to raise third world countries up to everyone elses standard of living.

I guess the country is going bankrupt much faster due to food stamp & welfare fraud, & not the $100 billion in subsidies given to large corporations that have offshore accounts in the Cayman Islands to completely avoid paying taxes.

Yeah you about got that right, those evil companies put people to work, just sayin!

Kern Dog

I've never worked for a poor man, but several rich ones!
Complaining about tax subsidies seems a lot like envy and class warfare. The rich didn't get rich by being stupid. NO poor man owns a business that hires people. Also, many of those that appear rich are possibly just skating by in lean times, using up lines of credit until the economy turns around. When a "rich" guy goes bankrupt, the debts are usually much higher than your $10,000 Visa balance!

Mike DC

QuoteThe rich didn't get rich by being stupid.

That's true.

But a hell of a lot of them were born rich, and stayed that way by being just as mediocre as the average poorer person working for them.

I admire self-made wealthy people but that doesn't cover most of the rich today IMHO.  They might have made their own career, but that's not the same thing as climbing way up out of the social classes they were raised in IMHO.

I didn't make myself totally clear. There is absolutely nothing wrong with any large company that actually puts Americans to work & puts dollars back into the economy buy paying a fair share of tax. The problem I have is with a the corporations that take "corporate welfare" & then grab some nice bonuses for themselves after they lay people off by the thousands to show a profit. The people they hire are overseas which does nothing for anyone here in the US.

Just sayin!

All that means is they didn't have to work 20 years before they started hiring people. =)

We tend to elect younger US presidents from the right families & schools & connections, rather than letting the job fall to the person who is best qualified for the job and might be older.

I would prefer the latter.

Maybe it's just me but, Does anyone else notice when ever some of the progressive leaning types, can't get their point across or people don't want to listen any longer, they result to insulting or personal attacks.... Instead of actually contributing something with some forethought to the discussion... The old diversion tactics... I'm just saying..

Which one are we talking about now? When you said "But a hell of a lot of them were born rich, and stayed that way by being just as mediocre as the average poorer person working for them" I thought you were talking about rich employers which is what prompted my reply, Not presidents.  I guess I'm confused... :silly:

If you're talking about electing presidents then I have a few more requirements that I think should be invoked before anyone could run for President, and age would be part of that.

I see Mr. Hartman is a "Progressive" which is code for socialist.  I wouldn't listen to  him if he told me he could make me rich beyond my wildest dreams - because he only wants to screw me and don't give a crap about me, you can go ahead and listen to him though if you would like to be enslaved....  Just sayin (now go ahead and be cute and use the "just sayin")....

The USA now has the largest corporate tax rates in the world and you wonder why they are leaving!!!!  It don't take a genius to figure that out but a socialist moron to ignore it   :yesnod:

Rich employers, rich presidents . . . whatever.  Either example relates to my earlier point the same way.

I switched to talking about presidents because it's a top-0.01% position that the rest of us will freely critique.  We don't all think that any US president must rightfully deserve the job just because he managed to get it.

I've actually heard & listened (unlike certain people) to different opinions & came to my own conclusions based on that. I won't lose any sleep if you or anyone else agree or disagree, I just like to see both sides of a discussion & know I'll find the truth somewhere in the middle.

As for the use of "just sayin", it's not as cute as you might think. If you log in under your own name & make a post of your own thoughts, it's obvious that you just said it & don't need to announce you're just sayin. Kind of like telling someone after a conversation that you just had a conversation with them.

Anyway, your last post shows me that I don't need to say another word to you about a topic like this for two reasons.

1)  You've decided to stoop to name calling like a 5 year old.

2)  You've already made up your mind about someone (Thom Hartmann) without listening to an alternate point of view that might differ from your own.

Take care.

Sorry but I do think socialists are morons, name calling or not...  But then you are obviously way more refined than I so I can see where your refined sense of decency would be offended by me calling socialists morons..

As for not being willing to listen to another point of view, well I used to listen to them, was a faithful msnbc follower, then I listened to the other side and converted - I guess I was tired of being a moron  :icon_smile_big: so you see you have made a judgment about me and didn't even know me...

If you wish to stoop to calling me childish, well go ahead - it doesn't offend me, I consider myself a kid at heart and smart enough to know a moron socialist when I see one  :2thumbs:
