Hi buddies... I got maybe one year ago a CD player in just around $16-20 ( I can't recall exactly ). It's an old Technics SL-P600C. I got it knowing need some repair, but was the only unit being sold with Instruction manual and Remote Control PLUS A GOOD LOOKING CONDITIONS outside. Just last week I found time to check where the damage is.

http://audio-database.com/TechnicsPanasonic/player/sl-p600c-e.html

well at the end, the piece what needs to be replaced its the optical unit. Locally will be IMPOSIBLE to find since is a CD player what never was sold or made, sooo will need your help if posible.

The optical unit PN is F7K27A.

Searching on the web looks to be imposible to find it, but MAYBE where you live there are some electronic repair shop, tech, etc. around what MAYBE could have some of those laying around getting some dust.

please if you can check and find it, let me know

THANKS!

( I'm a vintage audio fan )

I can't help you with finding what you need, but I can give you someone's name that might be able to. I just had a 1970's Marantz turntable repaired by him that works better than it did when I bought it new. He also reconed the woofers for my Infinity tower speakers that work great now. He is authorized by Sony for warranty repairs but works out of his attached garage at home.

He is a very nice guy to talk to, so I am willing to say that he would try to help you out if you can't find the parts you need.

I have an old Technics single disc version that looks pretty close to that.   I wish somebody would give me $20 for it and it works!  haha

Electronic repair places are getting hard to find anymore.  Actually ebay is sometimes a great place to look for parts and pieces of stuff. Amazing what you can find.

Get a vacuum tube  cd player and then you got something!!!!!!!

I can't help with this model, but I have an oldish Sony 5-disc CD changer that has been sitting in my basement on a shelf for 4 years.  It worked perfectly when I put it there.  If you want it it's yours, PM me.  Just cover shipping, I was actually ready to toss it at the local dump in their electronics dumpster.

Nacho-RT74

tempting :D... which model is ? I can get it for other purpouse :)

actually I wanted this Technics player to match all the rest of my home stereo, which is the same line

apparently found a parts dealer ( encompass.com ) who could get the optical unit... not cheap though... $121 plus shipping. Back ordered BUT specially ordered I could get it delivered in 2 or 3 weeks in Fl. ( if available at manufacturer... I already placed the order )

Nacho,
I have to apologize.  The wife must have already tossed it.  I just went through the basement top to bottom and it is no longer down there.  Sorry to offer it up and fall through mate!

Are you 100% sure it is the optical pickup that is bad? The assembly you are looking for, that is great if you want a plug and play repair, but if you can isolate the problem within that assembly, you will have much greater luck finding a replacement for the bad component. If you have no tools or experience, you will likely go through many items chasing the problem and dump more money into it than it is worth.

Nacho-RT74

Is a tech who checked it, not me

rt green, thanks for the heads up, but thats a newer unit. I was more interested on correctly dated unit to match the rest of home stereo... yes  I know, sounds kinda stupid.
