And the tire fitment is only part of it, quality built properly rated spring and bushings will improve a bunch of other areas too.  As Steve mentions there will be improved handling, but also braking, traction and overall look and stance of the car will be better.

the 295 should fit fine with the correct back space rim so that would be my first approach , if you want to raise the car I have just added 1 extra main leaf with the ends cut off right under the main leaf , it takes no time to do it, you just need an old set of springs to donate the extra leaf & 2 new centerbolts & about an hour to install .

SS, can you post a picture with your 275's from an angle like Musicman has posted? It's hard to tell from the pictures you posted.
If the tires are sticking OUT from the quarter with the tread below the wheel lip then they will rub over hard bumps unless you have the back jacked sky high. If they are tucked INSIDE the wheel opening then they should not rub with the proper offset. Are your tires tucked in, or sticking out?

Here are shots of mine, this is a 15x10 wheel with a 5" backspace, with a 295/50 series tire, on a 2nd gen.

Here are some pics:
I have seen evil! I have seen horror!
I have seen the unholy maggots which feast in the dark recesses of the human soul!
I have seen all this. But until today, I have never seen such a pain in the ars car like this 68 Charger!
