i have a440 78 engine that has been rebuilt. after the fact, i've decided to get some work done on the heads(452) so i can get better compression. i have kb .075 quench dome pistons installed and my deck clearance is .090. is this a normal measurement with these pistons. block has not been milled and don't want to start over at this point!! would milling the heads be the correct thing to do? according to the compression ratio formula i would have only a 8:1 ratio, obviuosly i want more than  that.

I have the same set up with the KB pistons and .075 quench domes. I don't know where you are getting a .090 reading from though.

From the block deck to the flat of the pistons I have from -  .030 to - .035 across the block. (Never been decked). On the pop up I read a +.041 avg. across the board.

At any rate KB has a calculator to help figure out your static compresion ratio on line. I damn sure need about 90cc heads to run on the street slop. I mean gas.... I have a set of 906s that are 72ccs.. That would put me at 11.76.. Just a bit much for pump gas..

WVcharger ... as in West Virginia charger? I've got family just outside of Charleston.
Welcome to the site.
Sixty-eights look great and the '69 is fine.

you will not gain much milling the heads , .050 is max & it only raises compression by .5 or so
