I'm not sure if this has been discussed before, if it has my apologies. My question is, does anyone have any guess as to what is the next step for the Dodge Challenger? Will they drop it after they finish this generation or will they come up with a complete new look "Challenger" which would look nothing like the vintage Challenger at all? I'm interested to read any of your predictions.

Word is that the Chally is done after the 2013 model year and will be replaced by a downsized 'Cuda.

My guess is now with "Fix It Again Tony" running things, Chrysler will unveil some kinda hybrid, jellybean, "Mass produced" version of a Fiat and call it a Challenger like they did with the Dart.

Damn, Chrysler has been pimped out like a cheap hooker. Everybody's gettin' their turn with 'em. First it was Mercedes, now Fiat. Who wants a crack at bankrupting Chrysler next? FORD?

The Challenger is the only new Mopar vehicle I am even remotely interested in and I am starting to get sick of seeing the orange ones with big "01" General Lee liscense plates on the front! Try harder I keep thinking to myself!! Mopar is in the tubes and the engines are not very spectacular with all the 5.7 Hemi failures I won't ever own a 5.7 (who was the genius that thought epoxied valve seats were a good idea!!??) :scratchchin:
Sold my Charger unfortunately....never got it finished.

What engine failures? Im at 65k  miles with nothing but routine oil changes and no problems whatsoever. Same thing w my buddy's 07 Daytona, and hes at 100k. My LX car club has 300+ members and ive only heard of one or two unexplained engine failures. The others were guys who got too aggressive with their engine mods and somehow grenaded their motors.

numerous 5.7 Hemi failures I have towed at least 25 Hemi's from 04 rams to newer Chargers and they have valve seats that are epoxied into heads, when they drop engine goes boom, do some reasearch on it and lowest mileage one I towed had 65,000 mile 05 Durango, Hot Rod magazine even did a write-up on it, I wish it was not true but it is.

One of the biggest issues with "retro" is evolution.  In other words, you eventually end up with the Mustang II - again.

My guess is the Challenger is more about the long term price of gas.  My guess is you'll see the Camaro drop next.

If it is gone after 2013 it will have outlasted the original. 1970-74 vs 2008-2013.  Nothing last for ever.

I don't think they sold as many of the new ones as they did the old ones either, but I could be wrong.
