Anyone watched the new show 'Cajun Pawn Stars'?
Last night a woman brought in a General Lee. When the guys asked her about it she said "I bought it from a company in Illinois, that built cars for the movie". Well being in the Charger world, I knew that meant it was bought from HLPAG. When they asked what she wanted for it, she said 75,000. Jimmy (owner of the shop), said the only way he would pay that much, is if it was a charger with documentation proving it was used in the series. He then offered 25K. She said she couldn't take no less than 60K. He offered 30K, tops....she refused. She let Jimmy and his brother take it for a spin before she left.

I thought the same thing when she said Illinois. For $30K I will sell them mine and build another one and have some cash left over.
I pointed to two old drunks sitting across the bar from us and told my friend
"That's us in 10 years".
He said "That's a mirror, dip-shit!

Kinda makes you wonder if the seller has figured out what they have and is trying to get out without taking a loss.

It wasn't a $75k car for sure, really dirty under the hood, it did have a big block at least, she should have took the $25k, not like its really rare or anything, not even an R/T... Hate that glass pack muffler sound...

From what we know about HLPAG I can't believe the price she wanted or the price they offerred.  Looks like they didn't do any research before making an offer and they obviously don't know what they're looking at.  Unless HLPAG did one good Lee clone restoration.

Pawn shops are in business to make money, so they would have paid $30k for that then try to sell it for...what $40k?  There are better deals on Ebay right now (then again those are probably HLPAG works of art also)

I saw that also & the lady i think said it WAS a clone but again she thinks it was used in the movie or TV show. Just toshow theat nobody knows WHAT they are looking at, NO ONE noticed that the interior WAS BLACK ! :o :popcrn:  if the pawn shop owners only knew that all you had to do was buy a hemi orange 69 Charger & buy the General lee Decal set for around $ 379.80 from the PADDOCK PARTS catalog, add the front grille guard & correct wheels, dixie horn and  saddle tan interior & there you go, GENERAL LEE.

I stayed up late to watch it last night and it was an A/C car also with all the A/C parts missing under the hood from what i could see in the 1 second they showed of it.   :eek2:

When they asked to drive it, i wonder WHAT would have happened if they wrecked it ? how much would that lady DEMAND ? i am thinking $75,000 or whatever her asking price was. If it were me, i would NEVER let anyone drive the car, especially when there are 2 extra chances for someone not paying attention to their driving to get too close to the charger & those are,

1- them seeing a 1969 Dodge Charger on the road

2- them seeing a GENERAL LEE

THOSE TWO THINGS WILL CAUSE DISTRACTED DRIVING AND ENDANGER A PRECIOUS CHARGER.

LOL that is EXACTLY what i thought! if she would have been "smart enough" to take the $30k for it, they would have been stuck with that pile of general lee

yep, she believed she had " THE ONLY GENERAL LEE" around and thought she had a gold mine, HMM, wonder WHY she wanted to sell it, think she was doing it for her husband or boyfriend who fiqured out he owned a piece of crap built by an even BIGGER piece of crap  and thought a woman going in there would help get it off his hands ? $ 75,000 or was it $65,000 ? it is going to be back on today or sometime this week or weekend, as they always replay the same ones. someone should record it, i would but i don't have a VCR right now. black interior & the pawn guys did not even know WHAT they were looking at & threw money at it way too fast. They ALSO thought it was very rare.

i think that was staged . he threw money at it to quickly and he had to have noticed the condition the interior and engine compartment were in .

My 1969 Charger. RIP......Rest in pieces.

I agree....this was staged, so many of these shows are setups to create drama.....A pawn shop should have offered $10,000 not $25,000 .......Storage wars, Pawn stars.....all have fake staged situations, as everyday stuff is to boring for TV.......My Opinion

Every "reality" show on tv now is scripted.. Cant stand any of that garbage  :RantExplode:

What was she thinking.....60k man she better give up more for that much..... :icon_smile_tongue:

rave_12000

i would have said, "sure, I can do $60k, but you have gotta throw in a dome light lens."  definitely staged.
