By my A688 module Failure still under the two years guarantee, I emailed Don, and he told me I can't get ( of course ) a replacement for it. The reason ? the manufacturer was STANDARD and they moved to China ( he doesn't need to bet me that, I noticed the quality of STANDARD products going down ) and Mexico so they couldn't support him anymore on the custom modules being built, but he is giving me a credit for the new module.

Of course being I did know the Chevy built in module into the Mopar configuration fancy box ( HR688 ), I told him I wasn't interested on something I can build by myself inside any damaged ECU I can reach around, because I have the skills for that, but he told me thats not the new box he is offering. He is working on a new box built and designed by themself and will be called HHR688.

will be a new release

lets see what happens!

I think the new box will be something similar to the Rev-N-Nator, which is another one of those future products due to be released soon... Mopar style ECU with all new upgraded electronics and built in adjustable Rev limiter.

Fingers crossed it looks like a stock-ish ECU and uses the stock ballast for originality, or is also offered in a version to omit the ballast resistor for those who want to do away with it ...

:iagree:

if non ballast required but still STOCK box, I can JUMP a ballast internally, removing the resistor and solding a heavy wire instead inside the ceramic between terminals

I'm thinking in fact to replace the 4 pins ceramic primary 1.5 ohms resistor for the 0.8 ohms resistor to keep the 4 prongs disposition... the deal is WHAT to use to fill back the resistor cavity ? Dunno what kind of material it is and I have SERIOUS doubts its a regular epoxy.

If I find that I could fix also some cluster dimmer wheels resistors I have around too ;)

There is a special electronics "potting" epoxy used specifically for that sort of thing. You could probably find it at any good electronics shop that sells components.
