welding floor pan question

Hello everyone I removed my entire floor and rear footwells I n my 68 charger.I bought a whole front piece from amd. where do I start welding?do I start at the sides by the rockers and do all edges or start over the crossmember and use sheet metalscrews to hold it in place? My plan is to clean out the frame rails and por 15 them ,they are mint but I thought could help .then spray my weld thru primer,cut out my holes and go at it .is there anything to do before any of this does the car need to be off the ground,these are the things in not sure of thx! Everyone....pic would be great!

Dont weld anything until you have it fitting nice with clamps along the firewall pinch seam and screwed down to the Xmember at least. You may need to put it in and out several times before any welding. Based on the rear edge being more forgiving to fit, it can be last. So work from center hump outward and front to back.

After test fitting and clamping down the firewall pinch seam.do I weld on the pinch on top or on the bottom of the seam .would like to see how its welded .not being a factory weld

By pinch weld, I mean the factory lip that runs along the firewall at the top of the bellhousing area.  The right way to do the pan is to separate this seam by drilling out the spot welds, clean up/dolly straighten the lip and plug weld onto the new pan lip through all the drilled holes.  Follow up by grinding the plug welds smooth and seam seal the joint from the inside before paint.
