I just called a local place and he told me you cant rebuild them, I think that is bull.
Has anybody gotten theirs rebuilt?

My motor was extremely hard to turn. So, I took it apart, inspected it, cleaned it, trued the comm, polished the armature shaft, cleaned the brushes/hoods, re-greased it and put it all back together and it runs like a new motor. Not sure if the motor is any different to 69 but if you can get it apart you can clean it up. One thing I wish I did but didn't think of at the time was to balance the armature. The rubber insulators absorb any vibration but if it was balanced it would spin as smooth as a top.

One word though - Be careful of the spherical bushings in either end of the motor, if the motor shaft wont slide through easily don't force it or you'll pop the "ball" bushing out of the end and most likely ruin your motor.

There is a also member here somewhere who used to rebuild them more extensively. I'm sure someone else will chime in with their details.

I had mine rebuilt. Yea, it's not rocket science to rebuild them although finding a reputable shop can be vexing.
