Couldn't agree more about swapping to a V-8 to make the Delorean badass!!  :2thumbs:   there was a guy in the town I grew up in who owned 2 of them!!
I saw "The Car show" and it was shameful to see the 308 and Delorean get smoked, but understandable when compared to today's technology.
Seems like a good business to start taking some old "cool" cars and bring them up to today's power!  :scratchchin:
I suppose that's what they do on "wrecks to Riches", but maybe another show should start from one of our garages!   :2thumbs: :coolgleamA:

The Delorean was pretty slow even when it was new.  Especially if you take into consideration the image and price tag.  The V6 engines are very good and thye can be made to run like a raped ape, but not in the DMC-12.  It received a poor injection and was underpowered.

You can order a brand new tuned engine from DMC that makes it a lot more fun to drive but it's costly.  Around $8000 if I recall.  You can get just about any part for these and the company will actually make you a brand new Delorean from NOS.

A good driver will set you back around $20K.  For half that or less you can find a very nice project that can be a candidate for a bigger engine.  The stainless steel skin and the gullwing doors make this a really nice car.  All you need is a flux capacitor and hope it gets up to 88mph before you run out of road!

Wouldn't that be nice? :yesnod:

"Wrecks to Riches" is an OK show, but the name of the it should really be "Disasters to Let's About Break Even" because that's usually what they do.  They go out and buy a rusted old carcass (usually paying far more than they should), bring it back to the shop and their body/paint guy tears them a new one because the thing is practically falling apart in his hands.  The owner gets all bent out of shape because he looks like an idiot.  They work on the thing...all the while there is this deadline looming: "Oooohhhhh...we have six months worth of work but we HAVE to get this done in an hour or we'll miss our car show/auction/unveiling/whatever!"  Well geez fellas...did it ever occur to you to look at a CALENDAR and PLAN out your build???  Then the owner usually makes about 1% profit on the car (or takes a loss) and commences to whining once again.  Ummm...hey jackass...next time maybe you should buy something that doesn't need so much money invested to make it right.

OK...I'm done.

Pretty much.  They all have some fabricated "deadline" in an effort to add drama.  I'm planning my Pro Touring project months in advance, up to and including building a 3D model on a CAD system of my center console, so that most issues have been anticipated and accounted for.  And when I send my Super Bee in to paint/body, I expect it to be there for months.  I love a nice restoration story as much as anyone, and my hat's off to guys who can put a rustbucket back on the road.  There are exceptions to every rule, but there comes a time where it's no longer cost effective to restore a car.  That's called "stupid money."  God bless you if you've got it, but personally I'd rather buy a more solid car and put money towards other cool stuff.

Sometimes, the car in the barn should just stay there.

Speaking of the Delorean episode... I saw it last night and it appears that there's a Cuda in the seller's garage. Still haven't seen the Charger episode yet.

Sarcasm detector, that's a real good invention.

I also noticed the Delorean's previous owner did have a nice garage in the background!  :2thumbs:
recorded the next one which is an old truck, but still need to see what they did to it to "shift" it for a Profit!!

Getting back to Wheeler Dealers...both of those guys ran that Charger in the 1/4 in the 17-18 second range and they were just giddy at how "fast" the car was.  That car was running on 6 cylinders or those Brits can't drive worth a dam!! Guess the smaller MGB's, Lotus' and Triumphs are what they're used to over there. :rotz:

I saw that.  Most likely neither one of them can drive worth a crap.  A spider monkey could get a stock 383 Charger through the traps at 15 seconds easily.  Of course, these two jokers were busy blowing those stupid "General Lee" air horns while they were driving through.  ::)

That and you could hear them missing the gears several times.... :scratchchin:....maybe it was more than the linkage they needed to fix!    :nana:
You're right though, they think a straight 6 is "monster power"....  :smilielol: :smilielol:
