Starter?

I have searched through the forum under starters but just fiqured I would ask one more time, go turn my ignition key to crank and I get a clicking from the starter, checked batteries and changed them out and same thing. Rapped the starter with hamer and still nothing but clicking. Starter shot or should I at least pull battery cables and clean and re-enstall to see if it may not be them? I have a feeling it's the starter thought even though it looks releativly new? Thanks for the replies

Quite possibly the solenoid is shot. The purists will give me a frown but I put one of those high torque mini starters on our 69 and really like it.
