69 Steering column

Hey guys, I'm sure this has been brought up numerous times.. My situation is my 69 was a 383 auto from the factory, i now have a 440 and i plan on putting a tremec 5spd into it.. the steering column was built with the shifter on it.. if i just take off the collar and swap it with one that doesn't have the shifter or gear letters on it P R N D will it work just fine? simple as that? or do i need a whole different steering column? Thanks

one of the problems you wil have is the original shift tube may rattle.

Me personally would redo a non column shift column and install it, then either sell ( or store away) the auto on the column one

I was thinking of getting a column from flaming river but they're $500+ was trying to save a few bucks.. thanks for the info.. do you know of any site that sells just the collars?
