I was looking at some of the threats about the number of cars used in the films. I know there is some mention about one of the cars being a 68 and the car on the front of the dvd cover having the roll bar. I have a lobby card from 1974 that shows Zeke, Mary and Larry sitting on the roof counting the money. THe car in the picture has a roll bar and has 68 charger seats with no head rests. the seat is a 68 with no holes for a head rest and has the correct pattern for a 68. THe door locks are in the correct position for a 68 charger. That particular car may have been used in the film when they were driving in one of the shots to protect them. Who knows. Just because you cant see the roll bar doesn't mean it wasn't used. I hear people on this thread say "they only used 3 cars." That was a long time ago. Just because the director said that doesn't mean they only used 3 cars. No one will ever be sure how many cars were used. I am hoping that it comes out on blu ray. Maybe some of the shots of the car will be more detailed.

Watch the existing version and go frame by frame on the scenes with the Charger and start analyzing details.  I think you'll come up to the same number.

The point I am tryng to make is there could have been a charger for promotinal shots or one that was built and never used. Could you see the roll bar in any of the shots of the car in the movie?

Ghoste

Look at the 68 car when it is pushing the cruiser into the canal.

Now don't let me spoil your fun, I'm just throwing in my  :Twocents:.  So don't hang me for it.

I think the same can be said about the Dukes as well as a few other movies or shows, but some people just look too much into these  things.  I hope it's more out of curiosity, than anything else.

Ghoste

Oh yes, but you can say the same about people analyzing last weeks ball game too.  Whatever you're into is weird to everyone else. :lol:

Obviously there was a 5th car that they used to film the intro to the Fall Guy.  Maybe it had the headrests.
[ŌŌ]ƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖ[ŌŌ] = 68
[ŌŌ][ƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖ][ƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖƖ][ŌŌ] = 69
(ŌŌ)[ƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗƗ](ŌŌ) = 70

Has there ever been a discussion on who the crew was painted the chargers? If we could ever track them down we might find answers. I know its a long shot,  but you never know. I guess John Hugh would know. or maybe remember. I wonder if the stripe scheme was invented for the movie or maybe one of the guys incharge of the vehicles for the movie saw it on the used car lot and decided to make 3, or however many, to use for the movie.

I am a fan of the movie "the road warrior" and have seen pictures of the red tow truck, with the cobra on the side, in a garage where it was built. There has to be pictures of the dmcl chargers somewhere being painted and who painted them. I like investigating this stuff because I have a passion for the move. My Dad worked at the St. Louis chrysler plant from 1959 til it closed. My uncle had a 70 cuda. My family has always been into . I used to watch Dirty mary Crazy Larry on T.V in the early 80's. It would come on the super movie on the local channel about once a year.

ALl I know, is Peter Fonda told me 3, but he was probably high most of the time, so that's all I have to add LOL

Yeah, I'm still of the opinion there were three.  There was a really detailed thread where we went into this before.

Thats what I was thinking.  Who knows for sure?  We do know headrests were removed so it would be easy to stick a pair back in.

Dino

Not to ruin it but we will never know the truth.  It may be out there!...but we won't find it.
Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.

Ghoste

If we knew for sure there would be one less thing to talk about.  As sick as it is, I kind of enjoy the frame by frame analysis of the stupid film. :lol:

Well if you have fun with it then by all means carry on and enjoy!  I waste my time with much worse things btw.   :icon_smile_big:

Yeah, I don't know that I'd want to do it everyday.  ;)  Once in a while is okay though.
