What 15" tires are available any more?

I thought picking a rim and tire size was hard enough, but it looks like 15" tires in any size aren't being made except for a few lame sizes.  My last Coronet had 235/60-15 on a 15X6.5 in front, and 275/60-15 on a 15X7 in back.  Thinking around the same size tires, but on a 15X7 front and 15X8 rear.  Any suggestions as to tire brand to look into?  I have BFG 225/70-14 on 14X5.5 now.

On both my cars I run Cooper Cobra GT's RWL. So far a good tire and a little cheaper than BFG'S.  :2thumbs:

Does anyone know of BFG will make 295 60/15's any time soon? I'm running 275's in the back but would rather go with 295's.

Firestone makes most of the popular sizes with their Firehawk 500's - except 245/60/15.  You would need to use 235's instead.  I went with MT Sportsman in 295/50 on a 10" rim and 245/60 up front on an 8" rim.  They are about the same in diameter.   I considered BFG's but the 295's were on back-order all over town.  (Before I had 235/60/14 on the car.)  You're right though... I think options are dwindling.

Good luck, and I'd love to see the car when you get the new tread!

 Can you still get BFG 295 50 15. ??? I heard you can't ? :shruggy:

Do you mean the 295 50/15? If so I doubt it. They quit making them and then the backorders soon followed. That was probably 3 years ago now.

EDIT - Actually, more than four years ago: http://www.dodgecharger.com/forum/index.php/topic,37254.0.html

Wha? Really? No more 295 50 15's??!?!?!!  :rotz:
I was thinking the Nitto 555r or BFG drag radial, both come in 325 50 15

As far as I know Cooper Cobra still comes in 295-50/15 with raised white lettering.

Also, for those who like RWL tires I believe Mickey Thompson makes a 295-50/15 as does Firestone as mentioned above. I believe Hercules makes one too.

Thanks Bull, I've got to review the Tire Racks's tire chart to find out the height difference between what I have 275/60/15 and 295/50/15's.

275/60/15: 28"

295/50/15: 26.6"

According to a fun tool a member created:  http://vexer.com/68rt/wheelguide.html

Though I believe there can be minor variation between manufacturers.

It's like all the fat 15" tires are 440 treadwear, and around 5 on the dry traction, wet traction, and handling ratings.  We ran Falken tires on our race car, and they worked well, but they were 205/50-15 I think with "excellent dry and wet traction," and 200 treadwear, but that's the only size they make in a 15" tire.  They were cheap, too.  The higher treadwear tires we tried out actually wore out really fast, and the Falkens lasted through a 24 hour race, and two 6 hour races, and still have lots of meat on them.  I guess the stickier tires griped the road, and the harder tires skidded and wore away on the turns.  So it looks like I can only get 000 treadwear cheater slicks, or hard tires that suck on wet and dry pavement, if I want 15" rims.  I might as well put Polyglass Wide Ovals or Redlines on it.

I guess it all depends on what you want adn what yoru willing to pay for.

Most 15 usage these days is predominatly street cruisers, so most the inexpensively available tires out there reflect this. Most of hte suppliers inteh list I posted previously fall in to this catagory, so if you want a RWl, msucle car sized tire that is $125 or less, that are still alot of choices.

If your looking for soft compound, race tires, Goodyear and Hoosier still make them as do Mickey Thompson, Towel City, Avon, and American Racer. Some are even d.o.t. approved for competition specs that require them. A good number of drag radials would fall in to this catagory, and while softer in the sidewall than what you'd want for road racing, they are still fairly well behaved on the street, as long as it is dry out.

If you want soft compound, stiff sidewall, street tires, the pickings are slim. You can find 15" sizes for this application from Mickey Thompson-the SR line in radial or I compound bias plys, Maxxis-Marauder line, Avon-CRZ line, Hoosier and a few Goodyears. I'd recommend going to rogerkrausracing.com and look up Cobra tires to find muscle car sizes in slicks, treaded, and d.o.t. compounds from Goodyear, Hoosier, and Avon. But, expect prices to start at $200 per tire and go up to nearly $500 per tire for replica VR Dunlap 325/35x15.

We searched high and low for 295/60/15" - Couldn't find any.  You get either a 275/60/15" or a 295/50/15" - BF Goodrich still makes both sizes.

Check that - you can get Hoosier's in 295/60/15" - but they are bias ply.

I just got a pair of BF Goodrich 275/60/15's at a local tire shop. He had them in 1 day. He also said there were still some 14 in available.

Closest thing to a 295/60 you will find is probably the Mickey Thompson S/R radial, 28x12x15. Sorry, no RWL on these, but you can buy a crayon to color them in if you want.
