Friend get's Murdered in a home invasion :(

It was some friends that are our age and it was their son. He was 32 and played with our kids back in the day. Last Monday night a thug kicked in his door and held them at gun point and demanded money, a struggle then issued and he was shot and killed. The intruder was subdued by some neighbors next door and put the perp in critical condition with baseball bats.....they just didn't finish the job. Two nights later they had some cousins driving back from KCI airport to go to the funeral and had and an accident(deer) All 5 were admitted to the hospital with one in serious condition. Now this morning my wife's brothers kids burned their house down....been a crazy week so far. Here is some links to the incidents.

I bought Steel security doors for my house a long time ago. They take the place of normal screen doors. They have dead bolt locks and screens in them so you can sleep safetly with the main entrance door open if you want.

Also, If somone is stupid enough to try a home invasion on me I also have a  LOADED 40 cal glock 22.

Sheesh what a week... Very sorry to hear the bad news... I never thought of Kansas being a high crime type area/state... I visited the Topeka, Larwance & Wicthita areas many times over the years, never ever had any issues... Always seemed to be very nice people... I wish your family & your friends family my condolences...

Very sorry to hear about this.  I knew someone killed in a home invasion recently.  We always lock our doors, even though we live in a town with a very low crime rate.  You just never know.  Our neighbors lost stuff from their cars when someone went through just checking for unlocked cars in driveways.  We always lock ours.

Regarding the accident.  Wear your seat belts people.  ESPECIALLY when driving old iron.  If they had them on chances are no serious injuries would have occurred.  There was a death here last week.  The driver wasn't wearing hers and was ejected and killed.  The passenger was fine.

Sad when that happens, had the same thing happen to my neighbor two doors down, he was lucky and survived being shot.

Home invasions really burn me.  I'd have a gun under the bed in a minute if my Wife would stand for it.  She hates guns.
