I've read some good reviews about the gearvendors units on this forum and others. My question to those who own it is do I need the standard length adapter or should I use the short version? I called Gearvendors and they told me to use the standard length.
I then called Pat @ SMR trans to discuss building my 727 and he told me to use the short GV unit because you don't have to worry about pinion angles at all. He said all I would need to do is dimple the floor for the speedo adapter and get the driveshaft shortened. Seems like his way would be more logical.
What style are you running, if you have it in your car? Just need input from the experts here. Thanks

Hmm.  What is the length of the standard one?  I have one in my car.  Put it in myself with lots of help from the Tech Line at GV.  No problems with vibrations or anything.  Had the driveshaft shortened and high speed balanced.  So I guess I defaulted to whatever it was they gave me!  I'll compare the old stock tail stock to it tomorrow.

I bought a standard unit and will buy a new driveshaft with 1350 joints instead of original 7290, GV comes with 1350 slip yoke and I have already bought a 1350 yoke for the rearend just will have the measurements so I can order the driveshaft.

i put mine in years ago and i thought the only diff was the lenght of the tail shaft on YOUR trans as it has to bolt to the same spot on the crossmember, or maybe i was reading about the differences in the car/trk and rv trans???  anyway its been many years

The short GV uses a different transmission output shaft than the standard passenger car/pickup...not a problem if you buy the unit from SMR but they can be a little hard to find if you buy from someone else.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.
