College kid from UCLA joins rebels in Libya

He thinks it seemed like a fun way to spend a vacation. Actually, if I were in his shoes I'd be very tempted to do the same thing. Not sure why but I think I'd enjoy it.

Yea, overall the idea is crazy enough but I think he'd be a lot better off if he knew which end of the shotgun to hold.

I dont think his intentions are bad.

His sole intention was to "experience" this? As if he's playing G.I.Joe in his back yard or playing Army with his play guns with his neighborhood buddies? You've got to me kidding? Did he not go to the Rebel leadership and ask them if he could? I mean, if I was a Rebel leader, I'd be pissed too........ The only thing I would see as a positive is the ability of someone to infiltrate their organization and sabotage things from the inside (i.e. a Gadhafi-loyalist trying to harm the rebellion). Granted, nothing negative came out of it, Thank God......... If I was a rebel-fighter, I'm not sure I'd want this sort of attention. This young-stupid man needs to go back to UCLA and more importantly, go apologize to his parents who are/were worried sick over him.........  The rebels were treating him like a mascot? Just shows the importance they placed on his presence. I've been to war, had mortars and missiles for real blowing up around me. It's to be taken seriously, not treated as some "vacation"... Go to a freakin' paintball fighting facility if you want a cheap thrill........  His energies could be better served else where. It's apparently he's pretty savy and resourceful, just doesn't know where to place it........  Duh !!!!
