All I can say is WTF about a million times.

We all know the current administration wants rubber band cars in the future which scares the crap out of me if our cars will turn into paperweights in the future.

But here is some interesting facts-

Current oil price 9/2/2011 = $86.45 and average price of gas is $3.80 ish and Illinois is $3.91.

Back when oil was $86.45 before was in 10/07.   Price of gas was $2.80!! :o :o

Back in May 23, 2008 crude oil was $132.00 a barrel and the average price of gas was $3.75.

SO GAS NOW IS ALMOST $50 A BARREL CHEAPER THEN IN 2008 AND THE PRICE OF GAS IS SIMILAR PER GALLON

Is it the due to summer blend?

Is it the winter blend because it is coming soon?

Is it due to the war?

Is it due to unemployment?

Due to all the air fuel that Obama is using on his vacations?

Due to the hurricanes?

Due to the earthquake in the NE?

Don't give me the crap that it is mainly because of the oil companies making record profits.  This is some but not all the issue!

Hmm, higher gas prices = more taxes??

WTF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And diesel (used to be the cheap fuel) is at $4.15!!! :brickwall: :brickwall:
13.53 @ 105.32

As much as you WANT it to be the fault of the current administration, it isn't.  The blame lies 100% with the oil companies.  They know what we will pay for gas and that is what they'll charge...its that simple.
I ain't got time for pain, the only pain I got time for is the pain i put on fools how don't know what time it is.

It's very simple in the eyes of the oil comapnies....just simply STOP driving..If everybody stopped driving cars for even one week, you caqn bet the price would come down.....only problem is, no one is willing to do this including but not limited to myself...

Only thing the Feds directly control is taxes (and tax breaks) on petroleum.

That's why Bachmann's campaign promise to bring back $2.00 gas is laughable at best, and out right pandering/lying at the worst.

There's even no guarantee that removing all taxes and fees would bring prices back to where they used to be (look at the incongruities between oil prices and fuel now).

Once a company realizes you're willing to pay a certain amount, and that transportation/distribution (at least the current modes of) requires their product, they've really got not only an ace in the hole, but you and I literally and figuratively over a barrel.

People may rail against electric/battery/hydrogen/solar/etc. powered automobiles, but anything that offers an alternative will more than likely help to break the petroleum monopoly on fuel and lead to lower prices.

I wonder if all the Home generators running  has anything to do with prices? Last weekend I waited in line for a long time just to buy gas for my generator. I filled up 4 5 gallon gas cans and most everyone else in front of me had at least 2 gas cans as well.

Sabre

Ah the old who is to blame for higher gas prices.  Some blame Congress, the President, oil companies, speculators, supply and demand.  It's all of the above.

mauve66

i just saw a show on refining oil and some of the stuff they use (like platinum) has skyrocketed in value so now that also raises thier costs, and they are definitely not going to "suck it up"
