Well maybe not a STAR, but I'll be on TV. Last Wednesday we were invited over to the Chatterbox Drive-In (our usual cruise venue) to shoot an episode of a new reality show called "Car Lot Cowboy" (originally to be called "Car Boss") for Spike TV. It stars Tom Stuker as the main character and produced by Tod Meisrow (Overhaulin, Monster Garage, Mythbusters, Ultimate Car Buildoff, et al).

The premise of the show is: Tom flies all over the globe working as a consultant to failing car dealerships and works to get them successful again (and all the drama that goes with it).

This is how it is described:
"He described Car Lot Cowboy as a combination between The Office and Hell's Kitchen in which he will use his business acumen to turn around faltering auto dealerships. It also will feature his sister, Roxy, and will start airing around the first of the year.

"By the end of the hour, the salespeople look better, the manager looks better, and the dealership looks like a place you'll want to buy car. ... There is a 'move the truck moment,' when a salesman is ready to lose his house, and I'll help that guy turn his career around.

"I can train a monkey to sell 12 cars in a month. And he can teach you a thing or two about travelling, sharing some of what he has learned while logging those 10 million miles.   Early on, Stuker was not a gung-ho flyer

We posed as a classic Mopar club and people from a local Chrysler dealership drove up in a new Charger and Challenger and mingled with us, asked questions about our cars and told us about theirs. Our kids took the photos from inside the restaurant. The producer said they couldn't be in it, or even be outside during the shooting, due to New Jersey's strict child labor laws. My son was REALLY bummed...

In any case, it was cool meeting these people and being part of it. This is the first of 8 episodes and it will air in January on Spike.

Yes. I was leaving the cruise last week and the producer came over and invited me. He explained that he needed some guys with older Mopars. That place gets a huge turn out of cars weekly (Saturdays) and it's a really unique venue, so it was a good candidate. Right place, right time I guess. He was hoping for a better turn out for the shoot but it rained, so there was only about 6 or 7 cars. But that was better for us!  :2thumbs:

Very cool, congrats...keep us posted and be sure to bump the topic when the air time hits!

The rain was torrential. Typically I avoid it like the plague, and I was really torn between going or not because my car leaks quite a bit. But I bit the bullit and went, hoping for the best. Well, it just got worse after we got there and after it was over, there was a LAKE in my trunk!  :'(   :o  ::)

It took me a couple of hours to dry it out after I got home, but overall, it was a good experience.   :2thumbs:

bummer!  I live 35 mins away from there.  I would have taken my 69 out in the rain for that!  Least it would have been a good test for the new(er) windshield.

A buddy/co-worker of mine is a member of the NJ Mopar Group. They were approached by the producers of Spike TV for this, and he called to invite me as well. From what I understand a good majority of his club did not attend due to the weather.

I was considering going, but when the forecast changed I was out. I don't know what vintage Mopars or a cruise night has to do with saving a failing car dealership, but I guess when the episode airs we will find out.
