Trying to finish the brakes on my 68 charger.  The car is supposed to have manual drums on all 4 corners (318 car).  When I bought it had manual disks on the front - drum on the back.  Not a clue what kind of front brakes I have on the front.  After seeing some of the other work performed on this car - I am not sure that I have the correct set up in my car.  I can't tell you how it handled because the car was in pieces when I bought it.  It has a stock looking proportioning block on the driver's inner fender and 3/16 brake lines.  As long as I buy a manual master cylinder that has the same set up (larger front vs rear reservoir) I should be OK?

The bore size of the master cylinder is supposed to be compatible with the bore size of the calipers in front and wheel cylinders in back. I would try to find out what you have and call Master Power Brakes for advice.

stock proportioning valve ,  hmmm its not just the  stock drum  brake block connector / pressure switch is it !! ?discs brake cars should have a proportioning valve to the rear wheel cylinders !
hard to say what someone has done , have you got any pictures of calipers , & casting numbers  , master cylinder / booster etc etc ,

Just got home from my 24 hour shift.  I'm working on the pics - but here is what I have for numbers.

The rear drums are 10 inch.  The new rear wheel cylinders have #2881613T stamped on them.

The front disc appear to be 11 inches (outside edge to outside edge - trying to measure overtop of the center hub) across.  The Chrysler caliper bracket has #776 stamped overtop #23258 - NOTE - Just did a search on A-bodies only.com - the pic is the exact setup I have on my car.  They claim that they belong on a 73+ A-body!  The digging continues.

The single piston caliper has #508 stamped after the pentastar on one side, and #4726 stamped on the other.  In between the two numbers the stamped #285.  I'm trying to pull everything apart to give better pics now.  I am attaching the pic of my proportion / distribution block that came with the car when I bought it.  I ordered a new M/C from autozone (asked for 68 charger manual discs on front) and they gave me M1323.  It physically looks the same (same 1 inch bore diameter) but is about 3/4 inch too short for bore depth when I stick a tape measure in.   My car did not come with an adjustible brake actuator/arm/lever-thingie - now what do I do?  Will this car stop when I hit the end of the drag strip??:shruggy: Any help would be greatly appreciated!
