So a couple years ago I was at the Mopar Nationals in Woodburn, Oregon and filmed a '69 doing a burnout before a drag race. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azreppEbnGo There's nothing very magical about it and IMO there's hundreds of much better Charger burnout videos on youtube. Whatever. So fast forward to today I get an email from youtube that says:

"Your video 1969 Charger burnout has become popular on YouTube, and you're eligible to apply for the YouTube Partnership Program, which allows you to make money from playbacks of your video.

Once you're approved, making money from your video is easy. Here's how it works: First sign into your YouTube account. Then, complete the steps outlined here: (Deleted by me). Once you're finished, we'll start placing ads next to your video and pay you a share of the revenue as long as you meet the program requirements.

We look forward to adding your video to the YouTube Partnership Program. Thanks and good luck!

The YouTube Team"

Have any of you ever heard of this or applied for this partnership program?

Never tried it myself (I only have 2 videos on YouTube).

Here's a little about how much you get paid:

Here's a Blog post with some information about getting started (and some of the pitfalls0:

My boys have a youtube account that they have had for several years to post vids of their band. THey have vids of originals as well as cover songs and their site has about 300,000 views. They were approached about adds once but I ignored it since I don't want to get into any problem with the cover songs they do. My understanding was it could be a problem if anyone plays cover songs and makes money from it without having written permission from the original artist.

When in doubt, I'd say pass on the adds unless you are sure everything you have up would be squeaky clean and not end up getting you into problems down the road.

There sure is. Think about comparing something as simple as being just one step up from a Victoria's Secret catalog....

.... & then for Ponch, just add a nun with a bullwhip in one hand & a bottle of tequila in the other, a goat with a garden hose tied to the horns, & picture it in the bus station mens room with that senator from Idaho taking the pics. :o

I got the same offer for one on my videos on YouTube, I hate having to click off those obnoxious ads on other's videos so I'm damn sure not gonna inflict it on those who watch mine...especially for the pocket change involved.

Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

I have one up in an unrelated field. 2 million hits in the past 6 months and I have earned about $35 when all is said and done.

Their invite to Revenue Sharing pays less than the Partnership Program.

$2900 was my Dec 2010 check from Google for being a YouTube partner.

I've explained the difference between the two already, so for future reference:

Howdy y'all, so yeah - having Google Adsense and being a Youtube Partner does indeed pay out nicely each month:
