Tail pipe diagnosis

Does this look like its running to rich?
Its soot like from a fireplace.
Would it be from idle or part throttle?

This is my 318/390 stroker and I have a 600 cfm Edelbrock carb thats probably too small because I have to set the mixture screws 4 1/2 turns out until the idle smooths out.

It also blows soot out when first started but only on the drivers side

Possibly just extra fuel while the choke is on , the carb is way too small , with 390 ci I would be using a 750 , Proform would be my choice
