If say the advertised power from a 440HP was 375hp from the factory, minus 33% loss which is 123.75 horse power, you ended up with 251.21, which is about what you got.

Of course the 375 from the factory was without any accessories and other tricks to make better numbers...

A radiator fan alone can rob as much as 25 horse...

I thought 15% was the general rule for Manuals and 20% for autos... of course there are other variables but anywhere around that range was my understanding....

Still sounds awesome...

Yes that is the general rule of percentages loss for manual/auto trans...but I am betting that it fluctuates quite a bit from combo to combo on different vehicles and again alot of other variables.

"The Liz" is awesome anyway you slice it! Tire size and weight, (rotational mass) gear ratio, convertor stall, accessories, on and on. Torque moves ya and horse power = speed.     Thanks for sharing with us, your car ROCKS!

Variables.....thats what makes it all fun. Trying to guess what kind of variables are in the mix.  :2thumbs:

I love it. Our hobbie is the best! We all ROCK! Enough said.   ;)

Technically the 6 pack 440 came rated as 390 HP. I really think the #'s from back then were inflated sometimes and deflated at others. I also think we have proper/better testing equipment these days to give more precise readings. It sounded greats, looks great. I love it.

Somewhat maybe, In most cases they under estimated HP/TQ numbers to get by the insurance industry (especially in the muscle car era), They are also showed crankshaft HP/TQ #'s not at the rear wheels under a load... They also showed HP at peak torque numbers, instead of actual HP/TQ. Many engines were far higher in HP/sometimes TQ rating for the day... The problem with Engine & Chassis dyno's is no 2 dyno's will put out the same exact number's, that's the real problem with dyno's, no real way to tell which 1's are the most accurate, with out exact altitude comparisons, shop temp, air flows (fans etc.), grains of water in the air (humidity) & the airs relative air density & oxygen  levels, then do some comparisons they will all still be different #'s... True professional dyno tech's, will tell you "you can't race (compare) dyno's", they are for tuning purposes only an engine dyno & roller dyno will give you completely different numbers even after you do what ever loss calculations for transmission converter, clutch, gears, differential, spool & other variables that are too vast to compare equally....  J_M_O    :Twocents:
