I used to watch Columbo with my parents all the time, it was probably one of the only shows that both of my parents enjoyed.

The "In-Laws" was a great flick, & his role as Sam Diamond in "Murder by Death" was also good. (Knock off of Bogart's Sam Spade)  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074937/

 my Favorite episode was when his slovenly gumshoe character went toe to toe with Robert Culp,.. "oh, yeah, I almost forgot...." hand to forehead lookin' at his shoes... that was a great moment of T.V.
