I am trying to figure out how my heater hose's should be routed; bracket wise on my Charger. I have a 68 with a big block & A/C.
I have seen various brackets - both fender mount and valve cover mount that say they are for 68's and can't seem to get a clear idea of what is correct. The FSM does not show it very clearly.
Did they use different methods during 68 production? Pics would be great. Thanks!

no fender bracket on 1968's - regardless of a/c or non a/c

heater hoses run right on top of the pass side valve cover. The style of said bracket  will vary and could be either of these 2

Is there a way to tell which one you're supposed to have?

If you have A/C then you have the first one. If you don't have A/C then you have the second one. Here is a snap of an original '68 383 A/C car from the Ohlone show last weekend.

in contrary to the labels. I've seen a/c cars with both length brackets ,,,,,as well as non a/c cars with both style brackets.

so , persoanlly I don't think either one is 100% right or wrong

Well, it does make sense that the taller bracket would be designed so that the hoses can clear the A/C components. :scratchchin:

Unless it's one of those funny-valve-cover-motor equipped cars..  :D

(to be exact, not all of those funny-valve-cover-motors equipped cars got the fender-mounted bracket, but the majority did)
