Can someone please tell me what this round piece is that mounts on the eng. block? It has a vacuum hose that goes to a plug on the water pump housing. What does it do? Can I remove it? It's a 440 eng out of a 77 New Yorker and I'm putting it in a 68 Charger.
Thanks!
I have seen evil! I have seen horror!
I have seen the unholy maggots which feast in the dark recesses of the human soul!
I have seen all this. But until today, I have never seen such a pain in the ars car like this 68 Charger!

BananaDan

I don't recall something like that on my 440.

BUT, you can't just remove it and leave the holes in the intake open.  Removing the vacuum line to it is ok.
