Does anyone else have a kid or multiple kids playing any travel sports? Just wondering what the norm is nationwide for this sort of thing. My son is only 7 and currently is playing in 2 baseball leagues and we are going here there and everywhere it seems. Its really putting a dent in the amount of car shows I can attend, let alone all the time it takes away from actual upkeep on the house and land.

Would do a survey but I'm too lazy. How many games does a normal 7 year old play in a year for baseball? I think we are looking at around 55 at this point.

Yea, it seems to be the normal thing these days. I have 3 kids in soccer and we are traveling a up to couple hours one way each weekend for their games. Fortunately I have twin boys so at least we are only traveling in 2 different directions at most on a weekend. Have 2 games this weekend, one each day, both roughly 2 hrs away. Plus the practices on weekdays and their other activities. There was a tournament over the Memorial Day weekend. Spent 2 days driving to Boston and back. Frankly it's driving the wife and I nuts but you do it for the kids. And yes, it kills my ability to get anything done on the house projects I have. We are lucky to just keep up with the routine house maintenance like lawn mowing and the like. It's one of the main reasons I have been forbidden from buying a project Charger.

Dan, one of my friends in New Jersey has a son in a travel baseball league & he was busy with it for the ENTIRE summer. I'm sure the kid had fun, but my friend was going nuts with all the driving & time away from everything else. Also, A coworker's daughter was in a softball league that traveled everywhere. He told me about going to Carlisle for games, which is 4 hours from here.  :o

When I was a kid these things never seemed to have lasted beyond the month of June & stayed within the county we lived in. Or maybe our team was just awful & we never advanced.
