I have a 66 charger stock 383 engine, and want to get more out of it.  Any suggestions where I should start?  I am looking to change the intake manifold, and carb, but I am looking for a good combo.
Any i deas?

are you replacing a 2 barrel?if so,and you are going to leave the engine stock,id go with a performer intake and a 650 edelbrock carb-that intake is basically a aluminum copy of the factory one,and that should b eenough carb for a street runner-if your hopping her up some more, then we will need more info!

The car came with an AFB 4bbl carb.  I want to modify the engine, I just do not have the money to do it all at once.  I am looking for the most hp without spending too much, and jsut figured I would start with the simplest stuff first.  I use the car as a driver to and from work, which is about 14 miles a day total.

Like Andy74 said,     Since its stock, I'd go with an edelbrock performer intake.   Its a hell of alot lighter but basically like the original intake.   As for the carb,   id say 600 or 650cfm holley.

Think about a Weiand action plus intake with an Edelbrock 650 thunder series carb too.
If you get a different intake stay with a dual plane style intake.

M1 alum is a good choice too Or the Holley Street dom , this will work excellent with later upgrades but they are only available used right now

If you're looking for cheap, the stock 69-70 383 4bbl manifold is pretty good. Other than one of those, look around for a used street dominator.
