Ackeman steering Geometry

I have a question about steering geometry. I am working on my wife's antique hauler ('80 El Camino, does not carry much,so it limits how much she can drag home and she leaves my truck alone). New tie rods ,fresh alignment and it drives Ok. When you make a tight turn at slow speeds the outside tire leaves tire marks. If you stand outside and observe the outer tire is being pushed inward quiet a bit, like it is turning more degrees then the inner tire. Same left or right.

I thought the inner tire turned more with Ackerman style steering?

That is correct when it is set properly. If you have too much toe-in it may result in what you are describing. Make sure your toe is set at the proper specs.

Just had it aligned 200 miles ago. I did not ask for an after alignment print out like I did with the Charger. Drives down the road OK. Just scrubs the tires in a parking lot.

We  got the car a year ago and just are getting back on the road after 15 years of sitting (basket case). Not sure how it drove before. 1980"s Chevys may all do it?

That's possible...or something is bent...but you would think they would have caught that during the alignment.  :scratchchin:
