i am doing the engine swap and ran into a problem the 66 imperial i pulled the motor and trans from uses a bolt in yoke to the trans and the drive shaft uses a slip section for the travel? now i have the choice of getting a new trans/ a new tailshaft/ a slip drive line made/ or just not bolt in the yoke?

my question is has anyone run into this problem and what was the solution? can you not bolt the yoke in? the shop said it holds tension on the tailshaft and if i unbolt it will fall apart. will a different tailshaft section bolt right up or will i need the whole trans?

You'd be better off looking for a different transmission. '66 was the last year to use the 19-spline input shaft.

The slip yoke tailshaft and tailhousing from another trans could be swapped in but it requires complete disassembly of the trans and when you're done you still have the small input shaft that limits converter selection.

Better to find a '67 or later with the conventional slip yoke rear.
Pardon me but my karma just ran over your dogma.

ok thanks for the info. i bought a new trans and a approx 1200rpm converter and a 1350 yoke so now i solved some weak links.
