Hey guys I need a little help here.  I recently pulled the engine out and detailed put it back in and is working great.  Until now thought the battery was just dead so I charged it and when it starts the amp gauge goes to -20 and stays there.  I replaced the voltage regulator, but now I am thinking it is the alternator, it is also missing do you think that the alternator would cause that also?

Thanks
Josh

Did you remove that shinny new paint from the gounds . Are the alternator frame and regulator housing getting a good low resistance path to  ground?

alright I figured it out.  The new engine harness I bought that is prewired for electric ignition is causing the problem just put my old harness back in and works fine, now I have to figure out what wires are wrong on the new one and fix it.

Thanks guys
Josh
