Body solder or not!!

I'm working on replacing the upper cowl on my charger and have come to a decision point.  Do I use body solder to fair the cowl into the window frame or use body putty?  I can see that whatever I use will only be about 1/8 inch thick or smaller.  Just wondering about the pros and cons between the two.  Not a "correct" car so that is not an issue but I don't want to have to come back in three years and do this over.  Pic is of the area that I'm talking about.  Charger lovers know about this.  So guys, what's your opinion!!??

Did you glue the cowl or weld it?

If you glued it, use a special seam filling putty...something like all metal.  b/c the heat from soldering could debond it and make matters worse.

If you welded it, use leadless solder or even better, take some time and cut a piece of metal and weld it in to bridge the seam.
After some epoxy primer, a little skim of filler is all you'd need and you can be confident going fwd that it's not going to move.

I haven't attached the cowl yet, just clamped in place for fit. I like the idea of making a metal patch with a little filler for final touchup.  Getting the old lead solder off was a pain and I tried to be careful to not get any in the air or on me.  I really didn't want to use more solder to put it back together again but I worried about using thick filler.  The metal patch and thin filler sounds better.

Lead is really quite simple to use. Be sure to tin way outside your work area and it will feather real nice. Scary the first time, practice once or twice, you may find you'll never use epoxy fillers again.
