How bad is the fit on the Daytona nose cone-fender seals?

This is what came on the car & I am assuming that it's original, but I'm not 100% sure. It seems as though the seal is not molded properly where it transitions from the side of the fender to the top, causing it to kink on the corner. The other side looks about the same.  Thoughts?

Is that a repro seal? None of mine look that bad.....bad - yes but not that bad.

:Twocents: Study some reference cars on the nose seal appearances they vary .Look at 3 Daytona Jim Green reference car.

?  .Not sure on this.Been a while. But isnt there metal pieces brackets etc similar to what 70 charger fender bumper seals used
.That may have helped shape the nose seal on the corners .

The car was last painted about 20 years ago; were repro seals available back then?

I've emailed the Dayclona people twice a week & a half ago, to see what they offer, but so far no response.

20 years ago wasnt that long ago...yep there were lots of parts around then, I restored most of my GTX through a YO catalog in 88.

No offense to Mike but responding is not Dayclona's strong point. I gave up on him after several weeks worth of contacting him. :brickwall: If this thread dosent get him moving for you try PCG and Dave will help you out promptly. Since mike is a member I would definetly give him a chance to help you out first.  :2thumbs:
wingless now, but still around.

The year one seals are the Dales Cuda shop thin inner tube type rubber nose seal .That will look even worse and blow out on the sides when driving down the road

i tried several reproduction seals and they where terrible . i hear declona's seals are great . i have home made ones on my car now and they look better then any of the reproduction seals that i had . i would luv to get a correctly fitting set  :brickwall:

Here is the backside of my original nose-fender seals.  The top corner is moulded, and there is a backing strip on the horizontal leg and partially down the vertical leg.  The seals were actually made by taking a production-line '70 Charger bumper-to-fender seal, cutting 1" (+/-) off the bottom, and somehow vulcanizing the bottom 8-10" of another '70 Charger seal (with the metal backing strip removed) to the cut edge of the top piece.  Hard to explain, but that's what they did.

The second picture shows the seam and bottom section of the seal.

I do recall those metal brackets you had to transfer them to the repo ones.I dont think Dayclona website is even up .But I do know F6 John A got his seals from them and was happy with them

DAY CLONA

The factory seals leave a lot to be desired, the aftermarket repros even more so, which was one of the reasons for producing my own....unfortunately I'm no longer making my seals, the last few sets ended up on Brians (1HotDaytona) Daytona, 41Husk's car, and Mr Angrier (Mike Musto) Daytona, and a few others, I currently have no plans to make another run,.......I've concentrated on just doing complete wingcar conversions for customers currently, rather than taking individual parts orders for sale/retail, as evident by the removal of my website from the internet, If I have any surplus wingcar parts, I'll list them in the DC or Moparts parts for sale section when avaliable.

Your best choice for now, is perhaps Dale's Cuda shop, they have been revamped, but are still far from perfect

Well, looking at the pictures, I now can safely say that mine aren't the originals.

I got Year One's set back in the mid 90's....they fit like crap...the top corner always pushes out....

Charger-Bodie

The Dayclona ones I used fit really nice. Sucks that Mike isnt making them anymore.

Over the years I have found that many repro parts are about 85% close, but they just can't seem  to get them 100% correct. It sounds like those year one seals aren't even 85%.
