Differential problem?

Took the drive shaft in and had it balanced today. It was bent and needed balancing. I noticed that the differential is hard to turn by hand going in the forward direction, much harder yet turning it in the reverse direction. Is this normal for an 8 3/4 sure grip?   
1972 Charger Topper Special, 360ci, 46RH OD trans, 8 3/4 sure grip with 3.91 gear, 14.93@92 mph.

Depends on how your rear brakes are set up..Tight will cause the diff to be hard to turn...

Yes, a lot of axles are harder to turn backwards with drum brakes.    Don,t do burnouts in reverse.
