I've disconnected hoses, drove out roll pin, unbolted, but no drop! Tried separating  steering shaft from box, not enough room, half inch overlap. Tried pushing box up shaft to clear nose of box, no luck. lowered jack with car on jack stands to see if I was compressing k-member, didn't help. Is there a way to pull steering shaft up to free this without removing steering wheel?

You have to drop the steering coloum inside the car. Then you can pull up on it. Take the bolts out from under the dash and out of the firewall.

Thanks 68 RT, I'll have to give my back a couple of days off before I do that--sucks getting old. Dave
