I know we all (or certainly almost all) have bought models of cars because of an admiration for a life sized version of the model.  I just wonder how many, if any, of us have tried to duplicate a full scale version of a model because of an admiration for the small sized car first?

Life size car came first. But the model got done first if that counts

for me  the love of models came frist then  as i got older  the feel of horsepower bit me then as i got older  the model buzz has hit me once more and now that i have a teen age daughter money is tight so all i can aford is the plastic toys

Uh....yeah.
I'm building a 1:1 scale version of the Dodge Deora model.
I built the small version when I was a kid, not to mention having the Hot Wheels version as my favorite and first of that brand.
