Is it posible to upgrade a laptop screen on a plug and play job ?

mine is 15" 1024x768 and Im searching for a little bit more resolution. It looks mine is called XGA and there is SXGA+ resolution ( 1400x1050 or so ) and UXGA+ ( 1600x1200 )

if not on a plug and play job, what else I would need to make it work ?

Have you considered picking up a 20" LCD monitor for $100 and plugging it in to that? It's a lot cheaper...  Provided you are using this primarily in one spot, that is...

It would depend on the model laptop you have, the ribon cable and sometimes the inverter is specific to a type of LCD.. what make and model is your laptop?

jb, I'm thinking to the laptop on field... I already have a bigger monitor at home ;)

I have found SXGAs on $50-70 rate

yes, but it would have to be compatable with the ribon connection to your laptop. laptops are not real upgradeable, it's not like a desktop where you just plug in the new monitor to a universal connector. You need to find out if your model laptop came with the higher end screen, then find the part number for that screen, then install it.

There is a good chance on an used one on ebay IF THEY TAKE CARE OF ANSWER MY QUESTIONS FIRST... Damn... the tittle says one description, the item description too, but pics doesn't match with tittle and description

well I think I got a GREAT deal:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=290484112995&si=ZXtajLQT8taRJ4AAs4C37Vu0yDk%253D&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWNX%3AIT

the picture is wrong ( states a diff unit what really matches to XGA ) but went to laptopaid website, They had a chat on line customer service and they assured me will get the right SXGA+ screen giving me apologizes because the confusion about the pic.

then on the chat I asked about something else required for this upgrade and told me the video cable needs to be replaced ( I have doubts about but whatever ). They gave me a PN for it (378210-001) what really was for a complete screen assembly for NC6130 what mostly sure is teh same than my NX6320 can use, true that SXGA+, but diff what I got from HP support service... WHAT I DID ? BASED on the PDF what HP gave me and PN for the screen I want 413679-001, found on the ebay

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370476999675&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT

what includes not just the wire but also the inverter... soooo less than $70 for everything sounds likes A DEAL.

not ?

( I'm hate all the diff PNs for practically same parts )
