One Thing Is For Sure, No '68 HEMI Charger Could Survive a Hit as Well as The New One. Check Out The Complete Article HERE!

It turns out that the restyled 2011 Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 have changes that are more than skin deep as the Charger and 300 have both been given the Top Safety Pick by the Institute for Highway Safety, their top award. IIHS concluded after their crash testing that, "Chrysler significantly improved the safety performance" of the two sedans for 2011. The previous models did not rank as highly because of weaker side impact protection ratings. The IIHS states that the Charger and 300 are not the only models with a top safety rating as Chrysler now has seven models that get the top honors.

The second image is with the doors removed. You can clearly see that the doors were in place during the testing (notice the shattering glass). The second image is to show the integrity of the B-pillar, running boards and roof.

Ya know, I really really like the changes they made to the '11 model, but.....there are still two glaring things I dislike about it.

I'm sure you can guess the first one, and I'll leave it at that, but the other one, that I think more poeple will agree with me on, is that that darn nose needs to go back on the truck they stole it from.

If that and the other thing were fixed, I might buy one and park it outside the garage, ie behind the '69.  My "2 car" garage won't fit two cars now that I built  13 foot long, 3 feet wide work bench.    :'(

I was a very vocal hater of the 2006 to 2010 sedan, to the point of threatenning the local dealership (well, I drove my '69 in and asked about the challenger and they got all pissy because that's all anyone was asking about, and then they suggested I look at a "charger", to which I said it was taking all the will power I had not to break the windows out of every one of those butt ugy cars on their lot, at which point, I told them my wife and I would go across the street and look at mustangs, which we did, just to piss them off   :nana:    ), but if they had come out with the '11 in 2006, I think there would have been much less hate, and many more sales.

Just my opinion.

Yeah but in the before pic of that version, the car in question was attractive and desirable.

From the info i found on the 1969 charger crash test was 100 mph test into a wall.  I would like to see the 4 door magnum after 100 mph test.

Although this is a previous generation 300 - and not a '11 Charger - in a head-on-collision with a big rig, the combined rate of impact places the wreck at over 100mph. The driver of the 300 - and the solitary occupant - was noted as leaving the accident with a broken wrist.

even though the front is completely smashed off, the passenger compartment is fairly intact (important part of safety structure). and combined rate of impact is a myth, the damage would be the same hitting a wall at 50 as hitting a truck at 50 (something to do with physics, don't ask me to explain).
