Closest thing I can relate that to would be 9/11...    I woke up and saw it on the news here in CA - I still remember that -  It was my first day of high school.

Remember that one very well. I was in a jet heading to San Diego on vacation when the Columbia burned up. I am pretty sure I saw some of the debris trail while on the plane but cannot verify it. RIP

I was working in Texarkana, TX at the time, at the Red River Army Depot.... about an hour north of where it came down. That was a real shock, maybe more so that Challenger at the time, just because I so much was closer to it. RIP to both crews.  :engel016:
