How can recall wheels be legally reproduced?

Are the reproduction recall wheels the same as the originals?  How could this be?  Are they sold as off-road wheels or what?

I would assume they're DOT approved copies of the originals with better design/materials than the originals.

I would hope they wouldn't build them exactly like the originals. :nana: That would not be too smart.

As I understand it, the originals weren't really "bad" so much as they just failed to be better than the typical cast aluminum aftermarket wheel of the time.  The factories had pretty tough abuse standards and the entire aftermarket wheel industry wasn't even close to measuring up in the 1960s.
