Looking to install the Moroso unit this winter. I searched the DC site and found only one picture of how someone located the switch (Jesco in 1-2010, behind the license plate).

So, anyone have pictures of mounting the switch? Unusual locations? Are you happy with the placement?
Thanks, Dan.

I've seen them in all kinds of places from the firewall (both underhood and inside the car) in the trunk, on the taillight panel, on the floor (both beneath the car and inside).  I saw a Challenger once with it located inside the fuel cap (the fuel inlet was someplace else).

A friend of mine once had a 70 Panther Pink Road Runner that he didn't want anybody stealing, he had the battery already in the trunk so he took out one of the body plugs somewhere between the fuel tank and the rear bumper area so he didn't have to chop a hole in the car and put a battery disconnect switch there so all he had to do was reach under the bumper and flip the switch, it was out of sight unless you knew where to look under the car.

I want to install mine inside the car, either firewall or under the seat.

Nobody has any pictures? :'(

The mounting I'm looking for is at the rear of the car to comply with NHRA rules:

Cut off Switch: Mandatory when battery is relocated or on any vehicle running 9.99 or quicker. An electrical power cutoff switch (one only) must be installed on the rearmost part of each vehicle and be easily accessible from outside the car body.

Tech inspectors at tracks are getting hard on this (I've heard). I plan on some racing in 2011 and the battery is already relocated. Hence need to mount the switch at the rear per the rules. Don't want to cut up/drill the bumper, body or lights, and a bracket just hanging down under looks like crap. So looking for ideas. (Can't find pics at other mopar sites either).

Do I just bite the bullet and drill a hole?

Haven't put mine in yet. I was going to have a bracket that just hung down from the bottom of the car. Since that looks like crap, as you mentioned(and couldn't agree more), I was going to have the bracket mounted on a piano hinge. When I'm not at the race track swing the cut off switch out of site under the car. Have locks for both positions.  :Twocents:

Sorry no pic either but I liked one on the passenger side of the dutchmen on a radio host's car here in Denver, Willy B's pro-street black 68 I believe... :scratchchin:

Hey Dan,

One of the cleanest cutoff switch installs I've seen is on member SFRT's car. PM him and request a pix. Good luck.

I didn't need to PM, he already posted a pic that shows where he located his switch.

It is very clean, I just don't want to go that direction if there's some creative solution. The earlier suggestion of the key hole is clever, but not for me. And I looked around for a locking hinge and can't find such a thing. Still searching for ideas.

Thanks everyone.

Here's mine, there was already a nice round hole in the bumper so I just drilled through the valance. I shortened the switch shaft a little and made some spacers for behind the plate so it would clear the switch.  There is room to reach up and flip the switch with my fingers.  At the track just leave the plate off.

TylerCharger69

Correct me if im wrong, but I think when you talk about NHRA rules, I believe it is supposed to be accessible to track officials, i.e. rescue personnel, at the rear of the car so it can be easily accessed in case of a crash and power can be shut off.  On another note, I think the fuel inertia cut off switches were a good invention as well

Yeahmate

Here's mine, just extended the switch lever, used a piece of plastic coated fishing trace, drill through the tail light bezel in the gap between the lower part of the reverse light lens and bezel with a very fine drill bit (.030'' or so)

charger2fast4u

Yeahmate that looks like a clean install you just drilled a small hole under the reverse light and fed the wire disconnect through?

Yeahmate

Sorry, I didn't explain it properly did I, I've gone and got some new picts = 1000 words they say.  :icon_smile_big:
