How to change 68 charger emblem to an R/T? EDIT: is the R/T emblem correct?

Hello,

My new R/T emblem just arrived today and I was wondering how does the old charger arrow come off the headlight door and how do you secure the R/T emblem in the same location?

EDIT:

I have the old badge off the car by taking out the headlight, however the nut will not go on the stud of the R/T emblem, a quick look revealed that the old badge had more threads that were more clearly defined. Should the new R/T emblem have similar threads or is it correct in having one faint thread?

Very small self tapping nuts.
Easiest is with the headlight door off but you might be able to access them if you remove a headlight bulb.
Here's the back of a '68 door.

How do you remove the headlight door? Unless you have the hands and fingers of a 5 year old.

Quite easily once the whole grille unit is out of the car.
I have removed just the door by using a flat wrench and unscrewing the four bolts that hold it to the arm.
Very tight fit-don't try it when it's cold quite sure it will crack something.

Yes the speed nuts cut the threads but do it slowly so you dont snap off the stud!

Might be easier to put the nut on and start cutting the thread before you position the R/T badge onto the headlight door.
If you're still having a problem getting the thread started you can try flattening the cutting edges of the nut by tapping them down just a little.
Gotta love a '69

Thank you everyone for your help.

I had to reuse the old nuts because the new nuts were too big but I think it worked out well.

I also finished up the rear speakers!

Now on to the door sills, and maybe even change to the correct mirror.

nice install did the R/T emblem bolt right in place of the old emblem or did you need to drill new holes in the front grille?

They fit right in line with the old holes. Very hard to get the old nuts off though, a 1/4" deep well socket worked the best for me.
